Flow analysis should separate entity attribution from intent attribution. Even if an address unquestionably belongs to an exchange, the reason for a transfer is usually not visible on-chain. Language such as “funds moved to an exchange-labelled address” is more defensible than “the holder sold.”
Cross-chain labels need extra care because bridged or wrapped representations can move through custodians and relayers. Matching values and timestamps alone is weak proof of common ownership.

A labelled “fund” wallet sends £20m of tokens to an exchange hot wallet. The observation supports increased exchange availability, but not proof of a sale. The exchange may custody assets for the fund or the transfer may support OTC settlement.
A wallet label remains attached after a project rotates treasury multisigs. Historical attribution is correct, while current ownership is uncertain. Recency metadata changes the conclusion.
